Nel 700° anniversario della morte del Sommo Poeta, il MUMEC lo ha voluto omaggiare con una serie di coinvolgenti iniziative nelle sedi espositive del museo aventi per tema gli orologi meccanici al tempo di Dante. Questo volume è il risultato di un'indagine approfondita su questi arcaici modelli di orologio. È possibile ripercorrerne la storia e gli sviluppi tecnici dall'orolegeria antica e agli svegliatori monastici che Dante descriveva attraverso questa affascinante lettura che funge altresì da guida e compendio alle esposizioni celebrative tenutesi nel 2021.

For the 700th anniversary of Dante's death, the MUMEC honoured him with a series of engaging initiatives at the museum's exhibition venues, focusing on mechanical clocks during Dante's time. This volume is the result of an in-depth exploration of these ancient clock models. Thanks to this fascinating book, you can trace their history and technical developments, from ancient horology to the monastic "svegliatore" (ancient alarm clock) that Dante described. It also serves as a guide and compendium to the celebratory exhibitions held in 2021.
